About Laser Maze

In Laser Maze, you place and rotate mirrors, splitters, and other optical pieces on a grid to direct a laser beam from its source to one or more target points. The beam travels in straight lines and reflects off mirrors at 90 degrees. Some pieces may split the beam or block it. The puzzle is solved when every required target is illuminated and no beam escapes the grid.

The challenge comes from limited pieces and fixed grid positions: you must decide which piece goes where and in what orientation, often with multiple beams interacting. Later puzzles add obstacles, colored filters, or targets that must be hit simultaneously, forcing careful planning rather than trial and error. A single misplaced mirror can send the beam into a dead end.

Tips to win

  • Plan backwards from the target: trace the beam backwards to see what angle it needs to enter from.
  • Use the fewest pieces first; extra mirrors can create unintended reflections.
  • Check for symmetry or forced moves when a beam must pass through a narrow corridor.
