About Block Ice Puzzle

The player slides ice blocks around a 6x6 grid. Each block can be moved only along its long axis into an adjacent empty square, and the goal is to manoeuvre the blue ice block to the exit on the edge of the board. Other blocks are obstacles that must be shuffled out of the way, but none can be removed, so every move must be made with the limited remaining space in mind.

The difficulty escalates as the grid fills with more blocks, leaving fewer empty cells to work with. Each puzzle becomes a test of forethought: you must often reverse previous moves or shift blocks that seem unrelated to the blue block's path in order to create the necessary gap. The satisfaction comes from untangling what initially looks like a hopeless jam.

Tips to win

  • Work backwards from the exit: identify which block directly blocks the blue block's final path and focus on moving that one first.
  • Give priority to moving larger blocks early, when there are more open spaces to reposition them.
  • If stuck, try moving a block that isn't obviously in the way; releasing one square can open up a chain of new moves.
