About Trivia Quiz

Ten questions, four answers each, twenty seconds a question. Geography, science, space, nature, history, food and drink, sport and games, words, numbers, and arts and books — from the capital of Australia to how many hearts an octopus has. A right answer is worth 100 points and up to 100 more for speed, so a perfect, quick round is worth close to 2,000.

Each round has one 50:50, which takes away two wrong answers from a question of your choice; save it for the one that stumps you. Run out of time and the question counts as wrong. After each answer the right one lights up for a moment, and at the end of the round every question is listed with its answer, so you come away knowing more than you started with.

The daily quiz gives everyone the same ten questions — three easy, five medium and two hard, on different subjects — and ranks the day by points. No question comes back until the rest of its pile has been asked. Free play asks ten at a time from all subjects or just the one you pick. Every question was written for this game.

Tips to win

• Speed is worth up to half your points, but a wrong answer is worth nothing: read all four first
• If you are torn between two, that is what the 50:50 is for
• Rule out the answers that cannot be right; the one left is often the answer
• Play the subjects you are weakest at in free play — the answers list at the end is the quickest way to learn
