About Merge Royal
Merge Royal is a card-based twist on the 2048 formula. A grid fills with numbered cards, each showing a value. You slide the entire grid in one of four directions. Any two cards with the same number that collide merge into a single card with the sum of their values. A new card appears after every move. The goal is to keep merging until you create a card with the highest possible value without letting the grid fill completely.
The challenge comes from managing space and order. Each slide shifts every card, so one careless move can scatter high-value cards that are difficult to bring back together. Early on, merges are frequent and satisfying, but later values grow quickly while the grid stays the same size. Deciding which direction to move next is a constant trade-off between immediate merges and keeping the board organised for future ones.
Tips to win
- Keep your highest card in a corner and try not to move it away
- Build adjacent cards in descending order to set up chain merges
- Avoid moving in a direction that adds no merges if another direction does
