Math Multiply Two is a memory matching game played with a grid of face-down cards divided into two groups: one group shows the numbers 1 through 18, and the other shows multiplication expressions based on 2, such as 9×2 or 8×2+1. You flip one card from each group and they form a pair if the expression evaluates to the number. For example, 18 pairs with 9×2, while 17 pairs with 8×2+1. The twist is that odd numbers include a +1, so every odd number's expression closely resembles the even number just below it, creating constant opportunities for confusion.
The core challenge is holding both card positions and exact calculations in mind. As you reveal more cards, you must distinguish between expressions that differ only by the +1, and misremembering a location or doing the arithmetic slightly wrong wastes a turn. The game rewards careful observation and systematic play, rather than speed.
Tips to win
- Always calculate the expression mentally when you flip a number card: for even numbers, divide by 2 to find the missing factor; for odd numbers, subtract 1, then divide by 2 and remember the +1.
- Pay extra attention to expressions with a +1; they always correspond to odd numbers and are easily confused with the even number one less.
- Try to keep a mental map of both number and expression card locations, and when you flip a number, immediately search for its matching expression before flipping anything else.
