In Duelers, you control a swordsman traveling through a kingdom to rescue a captive princess. Each stage presents a path filled with obstacles like pits and spikes, and enemies that block your way. You move and attack with your sword, and the game advances as you clear each screen or section. You must choose which enemies to fight: some are weak and yield small upgrades, others are strong and require better gear.

The core tension is deciding when to engage. Defeating enemies earns rewards that can be spent on upgrades to your sword and armor, making later encounters easier. However, picking a fight with a powerful foe too early can end a run quickly. The difficulty ramps up as you get closer to the princess, with more complex platforming and tougher enemy patterns.

Tips to win

• Lure enemies one by one instead of fighting groups.
• Spend upgrades on sword damage first to shorten fights.
• Learn enemy attack patterns before engaging; waiting for an opening is safer than rushing in.
